Dr. Blaettler was born in Luzerne, Switzerland, where he graduated from an advanced optical program. He then continued his studies in London before moving to Houston, Texas, where he received a doctorate degree in Optometry. Before moving to Anderson, he worked at Ciba Vision in Atlanta, Georgia as a contact lens clinical researcher. He specializes in astigmatic, multifocal and keratoconus contact lens fittings as well as more complicated scleral lens fittings.
He is widely known for his thoroughness, caring attitude, and concern for his patients. He joined Dr. Charles Thompson in practice in the mid 80's in Anderson and Williamston. Dr. Blaettler has been providing eye care for the upstate ever since! When he is not working, he enjoys playing racquetball, snow skiing, and keeping up with Clemson football. He and his wife Teressa collectively have three children and four grandchildren.
